April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She began with guitar and piano in the 7th grade, which ignited the interest of her. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote when she was 12 years old. At the age of 14, April was devoted for a long period of her time making song lyrics and working on her music. Soon, April began to take trips in NY and LA with her Dad in order for them both compose songs. The month also saw her include additional topics that were related to of her classmates who struggle in the area of peer pressure disabilities and even teenage suicide as depicted in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart works in partnerships at the well-known Clean Beauty brand Ilia and also is a lifestyle blogger with her own growing following. She has a disability that is a component of her persona, however it's not the entire image. Lockhart's profile on Twitter doesn't shy away from the fact that she is disabled and does not focus on it. The message is? We all have multiple aspects that our identities are complex and that we're much beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart tells Lockhart in a video interview "I am not convinced that my physical appearance will define me. I don't intend to be an influencer on disabilities because I've got plenty to offer." But it does not affect my everyday routine. I continue to do the normal things and have adjusted to the limitations of my disability. It's a big aspect of my existence, therefore it's important to discuss the subject. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart is an absolute inspiration on that front. Lockhart admits to having been through times when she felt uncomfortable in dressing in certain styles that showed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she wants. And she posts her pictures to social media. The self-love she talks about is a process. It's hard to say if you'll ever reach the end. But I think that's common to everyone regardless of what their insecurity is. It is important to have people in your life who know and understand the way you feel. They will be the ones who ask you: What do you worry about?
