Laura Linney, best known for her strong but fragile characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of the present. Her mother was a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nurse. Linney became interested in the theatre during summers spent by her famous father. She studied acting in Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career shortly after graduating after which she made her TV debut in the next year. Since then, she's performed in many films and stage and television productions. In her professional career, she has won many awards, including two Golden Globe Awards. Yet, despite the array of awards, theatre has remained her primary passion and she has continued to appear both in stage and screen.
